I have included Famous Children’s Book
Hi Joy. We have flashcards of famous authors here but they are not limited to English authors and not specifically children’s authors – will add that one soon and let you know when it is available.
Sharing more about the Growth Mindset and Grit again – https://rightbrainchild.com/2025/06/06/the-value-of-grit-and-a-growth-mindset/
I see a lot of children with so much potential and yet struggle with fear about their abilities that it holds them back from getting out there and achieving them. I find that this is usually less of a problem when children are young but it creeps in insiduously as they grow older, whether through exposure at school, through peers, from friends, and even well-meaning family. Why does this happen when we are “supporting” them?
Like everything else, I believe that if we start instilling a growth mindset and build grit from an early age it will go a long way in paving a stronger future for our children. We need to hone these skills regularly like a blade must be continually sharpened to keep it’s edge. How do we do it? By challenging their thinking and the beliefs that they form.
Hi Shrini – do you have the original link for this site that no longer works? I am not sure which link you are referring to. There are now a lot of different brain training programs available.
Hi Josiah. Before I answer your question, I would like to highlight this post if you haven’t already read it: https://rightbrainchild.com/2021/05/04/the-purpose-of-flashcards-in-early-learning/
In Shichida’s books, he often talks about rapidly flashing as many cards as possible. He explains that the goal is not to teach knowledge but to activate the brain. Shichida says to initially start with about 100 flashcards a day and gradually increase that quantity to 1000. You will notice in the weekly lesson that the number of flashcards in the Speed Play section also increase in number gradually until you are flashing about 1000 flashcards a day.
For teaching knowledge, you can use these flashcards in a variety of ways. One way would be the way you have described – to cover one topic a day and focus on activities and further content that can supplement that learning. For example, in teaching about the culture of Norway, you can show your child the flashcards, then add in supplementary activities to deepen the learning:
- Colour in the flag of Norway
- Cook a traditional dish from Norway to explore the flavours of the country
- Learn a few words from the national language of Norway
- Read books about Norway – these do not necessarily have to be non-fiction books about the country, it can also include stories from the culture.
I hope that helps. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out.
My pleasure Nidhi. I hope your early learning journey has been progressing well!
A few new flashcards sets are now available on the Vocabulary Flashcards Page just in case you’ve missed them:
Hi Nidhi. Parts of an Airplane is now available on our Vocabulary Flashcards page.
Hi Nidhi. That’s great! We don’t have parts of an airplane as yet but I will update you as soon as we do!
